“Being a Good Leader is to Know Yourself First”

In Premium magazine, Michel R. Filion, Director of Recruitment and Marketing for the McGill-HEC Montreal EMBA Program, describes this unique program and his own vision of leadership. His vision has no doubt evolved through his many meetings with candidates for the program. He believes out that, “You cannot be a good leader without first knowing your qualities and flaws, your career, and the models that you follow.” He also underlines generosity, energy, the ability to learn from your mistakes and self-awareness as important qualities for a good leader.
Furthermore, tools acquired by participants through the program contribute to their leadership. They develop, among other things, “a greater awareness of their own abilities” and a greater confidence in their implementation of new strategies.
Finally, Michel considers that “good leaders know how to recognize good fortune in their success, making them more human, altruistic and visionary leaders.”
