The McGill – HEC Montréal EMBA program aims to reduce the distance between the classroom and the organization, and between the classroom and the business community. The advisory board, launched in 2015, fits with this philosophy and helps to ensure that the program continues to stay connected to the realities faced by today’s business leaders.
Recently, as part of its increased focus on communication skills the EMBA has enlisted the help of its Board members. Board members will provide feedback on executive summaries that participants include with their impact papers – the capstone work submitted at the end of modules. . This “real world” feedback will help participants synthesize their ideas and write impactful executive summaries. This ability to communicate effectively is crucial ingredient to being able to turn ideas into action.
Recently, Robert Dutton, adjunct professor at HEC Montréal and former CEO of Rona, took over as Chair of the board, and over the past two meetings, the EMBA Advisory Board has welcomed four new members:
- Scott Henderson, CEO, Traxxall Technologies;
- Louise St-Pierre Administratrice de sociétés;
- Jim Athanasiou, EMBA 2015, Vice President, Engineering &Technology/Vice-président, ingénierie et techonologie, St. Lawrence Seaway Management Corporation;
- Martin Carrier, EMBA 2016, Président du conseil d’administration / Chair of the board, Bibliothèque et Archives nationales du Québec (BAnQ)
