Markus Reubi, a 2016 McGill-HEC Montréal Executive MBA graduate, has been promoted within the Federal Department of Foreign Affairs of Switzerland to become the Deputy Head of Mission at the Embassy of Switzerland in Tokyo, Japan.

In addition to his responsibilities for the political work of the Embassy as head of the political section, he will also act as Chief Operating Officer within the Embassy and coordinate the diplomatic work in various bilateral cooperation areas such as economy, finance, commerce, culture, science & technology, education or tourism. Markus believes that his broad leadership and intercultural management skills, which he developed further during the EMBA program, helped him in the selection process.  He also feels that important learnings in communication from the EMBA McGill-HEC Montreal Toastmasters Club (for EMBA graduates and participants only) played a role, and he’s sure both of these elements will facilitate his start into this new role in August 2018.

Markus studied Law in Switzerland and worked as a consultant for a few years before he started working as a Swiss diplomat 14 years ago. Over the years, he held different position around the globe. For the last four years, he was Head of the Swiss Business Hub (SBH) Canada for Switzerland’s Federal Department of Foreign Affairs. The SBH Canada is located within the Consulate General of Switzerland in Montreal and is part of the network of Switzerland Global Enterprise.
