Peter Young and Martin Lortie, two EMBA McGill-HEC Montreal classmates who graduated in 2011, are now working together at Ranger Design. Peter is Head of Business Development and Client Relations and Martin is Business Development Executive. Ranger Design develops and offers solution for unique needs of vans and truck owners, from shelving units and storage systems to partitions and ladder racks.

Recently, just like millions of others around the globe, their life changed and they decided to take action:

“Like everyone else, our lives are turned upside down and we want to help overcome the pandemic. We have decided to turn our manufacturing into a COVID-19 Initiative Relief Operation. I learned in my EMBA to never waste a good crisis!” explained Martin.

They raced to develop Hand Sanitizing Stations, amongst other things. Their KleenStation has a foot-activated pedal to prevent hand contact. It can be adjusted in order to dispense the desired amount of disinfectant. One main feature is that it has the ability to handle a very high volume of traffic with up to 10,000 uses between refills.

“We also designed Emergency Relief Bed to aid with the unprecedented high-demand for patient platforms in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, says Martin. Our Emergency Relief Bed helps emergency responders and caregivers move and position patients efficiently during this critical time. Our Emergency Relief Bed is a low-cost, readily available solution intended to quickly serve those on the front lines of the COVID-19 crisis – ranging from triage centers and pop-up areas of care to the emergency department, and all in-patient hospital general departments.”
