This year, P&Q reached out to 45 schools with leading EMBA programs to participate in the Best & Brightest, with programs chosen from existing MBA rankings at U.S. News, The Financial Times and The Economist. Each school was asked to choose two nominees for inclusion. Although programs were given latitude to select 2018 EMBA graduates based on their criteria, P&Q encouraged them to factor in such variables as “class contributions, academic performance, extracurricular involvement, professional achievement, personal intangibles and unique personal stories.”

Stéphane Emond (EMBA 2018) joins Grimard as Director, Continuous Improvement and Special Projects

Stéphane Emond (EMBA 2018) joins Grimard as Director, Continuous Improvement and Special Projects Stephane Emond, a 2018 graduate of the McGill-HEC Montréal EMBA program, has recently joined Grimard as Director of Continuous Improvement and Special Projects. In his new role, Stephane will be responsible for implementing continuous improvement projects in construction operations,  launching projects in new business sectors, and managing proposals for and execution of major projects. On a day-to-day basis, he will, act as an advisor and coach to the team and ensure the implementation of the best practices for major projects, thereby supporting the strategic vision for the group’s development. Stéphane now works with his EMBA classmate, Sébastien Grimard, Executive Vice President of this family business specialized in the fields of electricity, general construction, automation, instrumentation and power manufacturing and telecommunications.

Laurent Letzter, a current EMBA participant, becomes Managing Director at LEMKEN Canada

LEMKEN Canada, the Canadian division of the family business LEMKEN, a world-renowned professional agricultural equipment manufacturer, has experienced strong growth since 2010, when Laurent Letzter was the first and only employee of the division. The LEMKEN Canada team has grown quickly and changes were required, according to Laurent Letzter, current McGill-HEC Montreal EMBA participant and new Managing director of LEMKEN Canada. "We have recently made a significant change. We opened an import office in St-Hyacinthe with a complete parts warehouse for all of Canada. It was only natural that I become the managing director of this new structure and it seemed indispensable to me to participate in the McGill-HEC Montréal EMBA program to have the right tools to take on these responsibilities, but also to obtain good results with my colleagues and partners."

EVE LAURIER (EMBA 2011) IS SELECTED AS A FINALIST FOR THE PRIX FEMMES D’AFFAIRES DU QUÉBEC

The 30 finalists for the Prix Femmes d’affaires du Québec 2017 (2017 Quebec Business Women’s Award) were unveiled recently. One of the finalists is Ève Laurier, who is a 2011 McGill-HEC Montréal EMBA alumna. Ms. Laurier is the Ge at Edelman, a family-owned, independent communications marketing agency that helps companies evolve, promote and protect their brands and reputations. The finalists will be honored on November 8th at a gala during which the winner of each of the nine contest categories will be announced. In past editions of the contest, Danièle Bergeron and Louise Richer, both McGill – HEC Montréal EMBA alumnae, were selected as a finalist for this award. For Marie Pier Germain: it’s all about family and challenges

Marie Pier Germain promoted to Operations Director, Le Groupe Germain Hotels For over ten years, Marie Pier Germain has worked for the family business, Le Groupe Germain Hôtels. Although Le Groupe Germain was co-founded by her mother, Christiane Germain, and her uncle, Jean-Yves Germain, Marie Pier has had to prove herself as a manager and face many challenges before being promoted to Director of Operations. After studying engineering, Marie Pier held several positions within the organization, which is ranked among the 50 best-managed companies in Canada. She began her career in Calgary, contributing to the successful realization of the Hotel Le Germain complex. Next, she managed architects, designers and engineers in the construction and renovation of several Alt and Le Germain hotels. In 2015, a few months after joining the McGill-HEC Montréal EMBA program, she took the helm as General Manager of the Montreal Alt Hotel. The same year she gave birth to her son. "The EMBA McGill HEC Montréal program was a very rewarding experience both professionally and personally, following the birth of my son. Despite all the challenges I've faced as a new mom, I always felt that I had the support required to successfully complete the program. I now have a better understanding of the current business issues and I feel that I am a better manager with all the assets to contribute to the growth of the family business. " Just over a year after graduating from the McGill - HEC Montréal Executive MBA program, Marie Pier accepted a new challenge as Operations Director for the Groupe Germain Hôtels. Sébastien Grimard appointed Executive Vice President at Grimard

Sébastien Grimard, current EMBA McGill-HEC Montréal participant  is appointed Executive Vice President at Grimard After completing his bachelors and masters degrees in engineering and spending a few years in consulting, in 2007 Sébastien Grimard joined the family business. Grimard is a firm specialized in the fields of electricity, general construction, automation, instrumentation and power manufacturing and telecommunications. Nearly ten years later, as he is completing the McGill-HEC Montréal EMBA program, Sébastien has been appointed Executive Vice-President. Sébastien will now be responsible for helping the company achieve its financial goals and improve its operational performance. He will work on the organization’s strategy (strategic thinking, partnerships, development and special projects), on corporate leadership (health and safety mobilization, communication, tactical plans and improvement projects) as well as on talent development (learning communities, business processes). "What I have learned up to now in the EMBA McGill-HEC Montréal program has directly enabled me to take this Executive VP role and thus help the company in its growth plan. The strategic thinking method learned in the program gives me a more global perspective of our company, our markets, and the economy in which we operate."
