Jean-Claude Tshipama (EMBA 2016) has recently been named CEO Broadband within Eutelsat SA in charge of Africa. Eutelsat S.A. provides satellite-based video, business, broadband networks, and mobile services to telecommunication operators and broadcasters, corporate network integrators, and companies primarily in Europe, the Americas, Africa, and Asia. The company owns and operates satellites that provide capacity to international telecommunications operators and broadcasting companies. Jean-Claude Tshipama is a McGill-HEC Montreal EMBA alumnus. He started his career in Democratic Republic of Congo in the telecommunications, computer and Pay TV industries’.He successively worked as Commercial Manager at Celtel in Africa, Head of Sales and Distribution for nineteen countries in Africa at Microsoft Corporation and Head of Sales and Distribution at Digicel in the Caribbean and Pacifica regions, before taking the general direction of Canal + RDC. More recently, he had embarked on an entrepreneurial project in Quebec, with his wife: Zympala, a high-end, African-inspired clothing line for which he held the position of President and CEO. He had developed the plan for this company during the EMBA. Today, with Zympala in the capable hands of his wife, Jean-Claude returns to work in an environment he knows well. The learning and tools developed at the EMBA and his entrepreneurial experience will certainly give him a different perspective on the industry and its challenges.
Josée Duplessis, a 2016 graduate of the McGill-HEC Montréal EMBA, has been appointed to the position of Senior Director, Public Affairs - Canada, CN - the Canadian National Railway Company and its rail subsidiaries. Just 18 months after graduating, she has been able to achieve her objective: "I was drawn to the Executive MBA because I wanted to make a shift in my career; from politics to the business world. The program allowed me to recognize the skills learned in public administration, to transfer them and to land a great job and challenge within CN, a significant industry player," Josée told the EMBA team. With a background in sociology, Josée has also distinguished herself by her involvement in federal and municipal politics. Since her EMBA graduation, she had held the position of Chief of Staff for the Minister of Families, Children and Social Development Canada and Minister Responsible for the Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation. Josée had previously been at the head of Recyc-Québec's Board of Directors and worked on restructuring the governance of Aboriginal communities. On the municipal scene, she held various positions, including chair of the executive committee of the City of Montreal and responsible for urbanisms and natural areas files for the island of Montreal and a member of the commission of economic development and councilor of the Plateau Mont-Royal borough.[/fusion_text]
Suzanne Gagnon (EMBA 2018) appointed National Director, Offer Evolution at Sobeys Inc. Suzanne Gagnon is in the last phase of the McGill-HEC Montréal EMBA program: writing her final paper. A few months before her graduation, which is scheduled for February 2018, she has been appointed National Director, Offer Evolution at Sobeys Inc. Suzanne was chosen by Sobeys to do our program, and it is clear that they had plans for her. Suzanne has been working for Sobeys for over 20 years. She started as category manager, and has developed an expertise in product development and merchandizing for the Canadian supermarket chain. In her new role, she will be responsible for innovation and development for all Sobeys’ markets and in all product categories found in supermarkets “and maybe some that are not there yet!” added Suzanne, obviously very excited by this new nationwide challenge.
Caroline Morin (EMBA 2016) is appointed Senior Director, Communications and Corporate Marketing at Ivanhoé Cambridge After five years as Director of Internal and Corporate Communications at Ivanhoé Cambridge, Caroline Morin, a 2016 McGill-HEC Montréal EMBA graduate, has recently taken on a new role within the organization: Senior Director, Communications and Corporate Marketing. In her new role, Caroline is responsible, together with her team, for leading the development and execution of communications and marketing strategies and campaigns related to the organization’s business plan, while ensuring brand positioning, promotion, and protection for all Ivanhoé Cambridge's activities. “One of the most important things that I learned during the EMBA and which I use every day in my professional life is to remain open, to think differently and to always nurture the desire to do things differently. Steven Vetrone (EMBA 2017) has been promoted to District Operations Manager at The Home Depot Canada In his new role as District Operations Manager, Steven Vetrone (EMBA 2017) will be supporting Home Depot stores in Quebec in meeting their Customer Service, Inventory, and Operational goals. Steven’s ten years of experience as a Store Manager for the home improvement retailer will certainly be very useful since he will be managing operations for the 20+ Home Depot stores in Quebec each covering in average 100,000 square feet and stocking as many as 40,000 home improvement products. It’s a big job, but with his extended knowledge of the organization and having just completed the McGill-HEC Montréal EMBA program Steven feels ready to take up the challenge! “The Executive MBA was a great experience, giving me a broad perspective to better understand our business. Catherine Dagenais, current EMBA participant, is promoted Vice-President and COO of SAQ The Société des Alcools du Québec (SAQ) is like a second home to Catherine Dagenais. She’s worked there in various capacities for the last fifteen years, and her experience will be put to very good use going forward. The Board of Directors of the SAQ recently confirmed Catherine’s appointment to Vice-President and Chief Operating Officer. In this new role, she will provide leadership and direction for all of the organization’s operations related to marketing, sales channels, and supply chain, including the important evolution to omni-channel operations. At the same time, since last September, Catherine has been a member of the McGill-HEC Executive MBA Program, which has been a good fit for her evolution: "Throughout the year, the McGill - HEC Montreal EMBA has prepared me to take on this new role. Antoinette Noviello named Vice-President, Corporate Controller at Vidéotron After serving for over 10 years as part of the Quebecor family, Antoinette Noviello has recently been promoted to Vice-President, Corporate Controller at Videotron. "Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, Antoinette will leverage her acute strategic sense to lead her sector to new heights of success. She brings to this task not only extensive experience in business but also a vast store of in-depth knowledge of finance, accounting, controllership, and management. She is also known for her energy and her skill in transforming." details Videotron’s official press release. Antoinette started the EMBA McGill-HEC Montréal last September. She will complete this challenge in December 2017, but which it is already yielding results. As Vice-President, Corporate Controller, she will take charge of all Videotron's financial and accounting activities, and will oversee the organization's governance, compliance, and regulatory standards.
New Community Manager for Outaouais, at RBC: Nadim Ladha (EMBA 2017) With barely enough time to catch his breath after graduating from EMBA McGill-HEC Montréal, and only 10 months after his last promotion, Nadim Ladha has been promoted to Community Manager for the Outaouais Region at RBC Royal Bank. The official announcement of his appointment described Nadim as "an outstanding leader," a person who "stands out at all levels, from employee surveys to his team’s financial results and client surveys" and whose motto is "Be the customers’ first choice". Nadim believes that he is a better manager today, thanks to all he learned from his Executive MBA classmates. Many of them had more experience than Nadim, and were very open about sharing their insights and experiences.
John-Sebastien Bignell (EMBA 2017) appointed Senior Director of Operations for the Jean Coutu Group John-Sebastien Bignell, a 2017 McGill–HEC Montréal Executive MBA graduate, has been appointed Senior Director of Operations for the Jean Coutu Group. He will be responsible for distribution centre operations, inventory, and transportation operations. The company’s recently opened distribution centre in Varennes is partly automated, and one of John’s challenges will be to increase its overall performance to the level expected by the company while making sure to generate and document knowledge linked to the operation of the centre. “The EMBA greatly contributed to my understanding of the company as a whole and of its environment. This will be a great asset in my new mandate and will give me food for thought and help me structure my strategic analysis. The tools and concepts acquired during the operational excellence module will certainly be central to my new duties. In addition, what I took away from the ‘Catalytic Mindset’ module, especially concerning change management, will be very useful. The McGill–HEC Montreal EMBA helped make me a complete manager and minimize my blind spots. Now I’ll have the opportunity to apply everything I learned and realize my full potential.”
