L’EMBA McGill-HEC Montréal est un programme bilingue, nos diplômé(e)s étaient invité(e)s à répondre à nos questions dans la langue de leur choix – comme c’est le cas tout au long du programme.
What accomplishment are you most proud of in your professional career?
I would likely have to say that it’s when I became a senior partner at Lemay. It’s been a privilege to work up to this point in my career, and be acknowledged for many of my efforts. Now, it’s important to maintain, build and seek new visions and futures for the company. Establishing internal and external frameworks, processes, and fluid metrics to measure ourselves against and build upon. As well as mentor, develop and nurture our new talent that will be a part of our future successes. Being apart of such a diverse and passionate partnership team makes me feel fortunate to have the opportunity to give back but also use all the experience garnered to push forward and see new goals achieved, in new horizons.
What did you appreciate the most about your EMBA experience in general?
I truly feel it was the relationships and collaboration that is ingrained within the program. Maybe cliché, but the people make this a unique experience. Being able to trouble shoot, think innovatively and problem solve some of the more pressing issue we face today – with diverse and passionate minds, across many different markets, business, and sectors – is a real invaluable involvement I had, that will not be forgotten.
What impact did the EMBA program have on you and your career?
The EMBA has a transformative quality to deliver on several experiences that ultimately build your analytic, decision-making, implementation, presentation skills, and so much more. Future-ready and sustainability focused, What I truly feel is integral to future success is the ability to understand big-picture and now having a more acute capability to apply these understanding to everyday scenarios or large strategic forecasting. That macro to micro level of thought is vital for any type of business or personal career.
What advice would you give to someone who is considering embarking on the EMBA adventure?
If the door presents itself, walk through it! To be realistic, doing an EMBA may not be the right thing for you, right now – there are always several life factors that have a heavy influence when making such important decisions. But as an optimist, if the door open, like I mentioned, try, and walk through it.
This program not only enriches your understanding holistically, from a finite to strategic level thinking, but it challenges your thoughts, your habits, your approach and therefore changes you as an individual.
The journey is one that gives great insight, to many nuanced aspects of life, other than just business practices.
