Professor Henry Mintzberg has been selected to receive the 2014 CK Prahalad Distinguished Scholar-Practitioner Award given by the Strategic Management Society. This prize, created in 2011 to honour the legacy of CK Prahalad, is awarded annually to a scholar-practitioner who has used applied learning to influence how theory and research guide practice. Special attention is given to a scholar-practitioner whose contributions have shaped the understanding of global strategic leadership.

The Society consists of nearly 3,000 members representing a kaleidoscope of backgrounds and perspectives from more than 80 different countries. Professor Henry Mintzberg is a bestselling author and a renowned management thinker from McGill University. His thinking on the practice of management inspired much of the design of the EMBA McGill – HEC Montréal, including among other elements, the focus on reflection, the managerial mindsets that form 5 of the program’s modules, and the importance of drawing together managers of significant experience in order to use their work and businesses as a canvas for learning.
