Demers_VincentDr. Vincent Demers, who received his EMBA McGill-HEC Montréal diploma in late May 2015, announced the launch of his home care service, DomicileMed, a new service offering house calls that will be offered to locals in the Quebec City area from next September. The project has been widely publicized in Quebec.

Dr. Demers will make house calls for a fixed fee, which his patients will be able to reserve on his website for a specific time slot. He will also offer consultations using Skype, Facetime or telephone. His «virtual clinic» will be offered in Quebec City at first, but he hopes to convince colleagues from Montreal to join the project.

In an interview with La Presse, Dr. Demers explained that he didn’t choose this path for money: “I will probably earn less than what I would have done by staying with the RAMQ,” he said. As for the price of his service, he adds: “It is half of the prevailing market price. It’s cheaper than a plumber.” As a doctor whose work has largely focused on the less fortunate, he adds.” My home care service, will mainly attract people from the middle class. For those who do not have the means, I offer my voluntary services in a clinic. If other doctors join my project, they will also join a clinic on a volunteer basis.”
