Herold_Helmut_optJune 15th is Global Wind Day. To mark the day, Helmut Herold, a current participant in the EMBA McGill-HEC EMBA Program, has written an article in le Journal de Montréal. Helmut is the CEO of Senvion for North America, a German company in the field of wind energy, specialized in the sales and production wind turbines.

Here is the outline of his message:

First, he recalled that at the Bonn conference on Climate Change, in Germany, Canada received some criticism, as it was one of the only developed countries that did not conform to the current climate objectives.

Second, he explained that Quebec has a great development potential for wind energy due to the quality and density of its wind, often even stronger in cold weather.

Finally, he invites Quebecers to be more open-minded to wind energy, which is cost-effective, and contributes to reducing emissions, describing it as a form of energy that is “complementary, accessible and efficient” with “an environmental footprint of virtually zero”.
