Rodrigo Carvajal S., a 2016 graduate of the EMBA McGill-HEC Montreal program, joins Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC) Canada as Director of Trade – Import.
MSC is a worldwide leader in the Global Container Shipping industry with global headquarters in Geneva Switzerland that creates value around the globe. With over 480 offices across more than 155 countries worldwide and over 70’000 employees, MSC provides an integrated network of road, rail and sea transportation. Under the leadership of the Aponte family the organization has grown with passion and commitment to one of the largest and most dynamic shipping companies in the world, similarly, the Canadian organization has expanded its presence in the local market in the recent years.
As the new Director at MSC Canada, Rodrigo will assist in the development of the various designated trade regions with the mandate to generate sustainable revenue growth for the business, as well as leading the departmental business area through various aspects of the commercial, operational and corporate landscape of the Canadian organization. While proposing and influencing as a senior manager change management initiatives to his Executive Management team, his group of collaborators and principles in Geneva, he will assume accountability for business performance as well as build a strong foundation of commercial operational excellence to achieve the highest standard of commercial expertise in the Canadian marketplace. Rodrigo will also design in collaboration with Commercial Sales effective shipping strategies to elevate the MSC brand to become the ocean carrier of choice for the Canadian importers and end users alike.
Rodrigo holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Chile and is a graduate of the German technical professional school in Santiago with a major in International Trade and Logistics. He has developed supply chain solutions in the Consumer, Retail and Fashion industry, as well as in the Pharmaceutical vertical segment predominantly for the international Third-Party Logistics segment at the time of his graduation from the EMBA McGill-HEC Montréal program in Montreal. In his role with MSC Canada Rodrigo will be sharing several aspects from the EMBA modules, particularly the Analytical and Strategic Mindset to unlock new value for MSC Canada.
