Laurent Vivier, a current participant of the McGill-HEC Montréal EMBA, has been promoted to Director, Prevention and Risk at Glencore Nickel, for the Raglan Mine. Over the last seven years, Laurent has been Mine Maintenance Superintendent at Glencore’s Raglan mine.  He takes on this new leadership role with great enthusiasm, since already in his previous role, health, safety and especially prevention were top of mind for him.  Seven months into the program, Laurent can identify many concepts that were useful for his professional growth, with the Reflective Mindset module having had the most impact. This first module of the program focuses on managing self, a critical foundation for managing anything or anyone else.

Raglan Mine is part of the Glencore Group. Their installations are located at the extreme limit of Northern Quebec, where they operate one of the richest base-metal mines in the world. Raglan Mine strives to become a model in the mining industry in human resource development, equity towards its multicultural workforce and respect for the local communities and the environment.

* Laurent started the EMBA program in September 2018 and is expected to graduate in the spring of 2020.
