Major André P. Jean, a 2019 McGill-HEC Montréal EMBA alumnus has recently been promoted to Commanding Officer, Rations & Quarters Support Services, CFB Borden for the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF).

Canadian Forces Base Borden (CFB Borden) is located approximately 100 kilometers north of Toronto and is the largest training establishment in the CAF. On average, CFB Borden trains 20,000 military personnel annually.

In this new role, Andre will be responsible for all the accommodation at the base, which includes nearly 4000 beds in 27 buildings, as well as all food services. This represents the management of over 1.4 million beds and 1.3 million meals a year.

André’s main challenge in his new role will be assuring the smooth collaboration between different stakeholders. His focus will be on employee wellness: “The happier people are, the more willing they will be to deliver customer service focused on excellence,” he says.

André is looking forward to tackling these challenges and shares with us:

“The EMBA gave me more confidence. I feel better equipped and better prepared to face the opportunities and challenges of this complex organization, which is made up of civilians military personnel. “

He will also continue to be actively involved in diversity and inclusion in the workplace in order to enable people to thrive. The research he did for his final paper at the EMBA, allowed him to focus on effective practices that he can apply in his organization to enable a shift in diversity and inclusion. André has also recently been elected as Co-Chair of National Defense’s LGBTQ + Strategic Group.
