Geneviève Rossier, a 2012 McGill-HEC Montréal EMBA alumna, was recently named Editor and General Manager of the french service of The Canadian Press.

In her new role, Geneviève will oversee some 40 journalists in Quebec, including the agency’s offices in Quebec City and Ottawa. She also has a development mandate, in a context where the media business model is severely put to the test.

Geneviève studied and worked as a journalist for many years before becoming editor-in-chief of Radio-Canada’s Téléjournal in 2003, then Director of digital information and finally General Manager of digital services at Radio-Canada, where her team created Tou.tv in 2010.

“It’s exhilarating to accept a mandate in an industry in disarray, , but only if you really believe that the industry must survive. For me, democracy would be in jeopardy without strong, independent journalism. I will put all my knowledge, including what I have learned at the EMBA, to serve this purpose, especially by reflecting on the added value of the business model. “
