Virginie Fortin, a 2017 McGill-HEC Montreal EMBA alumna, has been selected as a member of the Comité consultatif du secteur minier (CCSM) [Mining Sector Advisory Committee] for a three-year term.

The eleven members of the committee are professionals recognized in their community for their expertise and perspectives on the mining sector and are selected by the Autorité des Marchés Financiers. The CCSM’s mandate is to promote discussions with the AMF on the concerns of stakeholders in the mining sector.

Virginie is a lawyer and since 2018, she is the Director of Legal Affairs of Nouveau Monde Graphite. In 2015, this company discovered a graphite deposit in Saint-Michel-des-Saints, Quebec. Thanks to its demonstration plant, Nouveau Monde Graphite has put its first tons of graphite concentrate on the market in 2018. Natural graphite is at the heart of the energy revolution because it is an important component of lithium-ion batteries, essential for electric vehicles and energy storage systems.
