In the heart of a crisis that is shaking the hotel industry like never before, Marie-Pier Germain, EMBA McGill-HEC Montréal 2016 alumna, was appointed VicePresident of Germain Hotels.

“Needless to say, the challenges in my new role are countless!
The period of uncertainty we are currently experiencing in the hotel industry is unprecedented. The business I’ve known all my life is no longer the same. Overnight, we lost 90% of our revenue and had to let go of more than 85% of our teams across Canada.
It will take a long time to go up the slope and our goal at the moment is to keep our head above water in order to get through.”

For almost fifteen years, Marie Pier Germain has worked in the family business, Germain Hotels. Although Germain Hotels was co-founded by her mother, Christiane Germain, and her uncle, Jean-Yves Germain, Marie Pier had to prove herself as a manager, take up many challenges and develop her leadership tools, thanks to the EMBA, among others, in order to achieve her recent promotion to Vice President.

“The McGill-HEC Montreal EMBA has brought me a lot of learning, but today I value more than anything the relationships that I developed during my time at HEC Montreal and McGill and the depth of  our exchanges, whether  academic, professional or personal. These are all privileged relationships that I can count on to face my current business challenges!”
