This year, throughout December, the McGill-HEC Montréal EMBA has decided to highlight initiatives and stories of graduates working towards a better – greener, more diverse, healthier, more open – tomorrow.

Managing Director, Investment Banking, Sustainability Advisory & Finance
National Bank Financial

What do I do?

“I’m responsible for the Sustainable Advisory & Finance team at National Bank Financial within our investment banking division.

There isn’t an area of the economy, and by extent, an area of capital markets that climate change and sustainability doesn’t affect.

On the funding side, we structure both traditional green, social, and sustainability bond/loan transactions, and rapidly growing sustainability-linked debt instruments. On the advisory side, we work with corporations and governments alike to help them better integrate sustainability into their corporate strategy. Simultaneously, we help them design a funding strategy to support their sustainability approach and ESG mission. Our day-to-day work is wide and varies based on the type of client we are working with, as well as their sustainability maturity.

We can work on analyzing green projects (‘taxonomy’) for inclusion into green bonds, to advising on ESG and GHG accounting, or the impact of carbon.

The great part about this group, is that we get to work with so many talented teams in a multi-disciplinary way across the capital markets group.”

My Mission

“In my experience, I’ve found people’s desire to do good is innate.

Finding ways to trigger and empower it is something I find deeply rewarding. Finance alone can’t solve climate change, but it can be a powerful lever to influence change.

Doing it in a way that brings people together to problem-solve and think creatively on ways to design sustainability-efficient solutions is my ultimate mission.”
