Jean-François Bertrand, a 2014 McGill-HEC Montréal EMBA, has recently been appointed to Vice-President, Trading Systems at the Montréal Exchange and the Toronto Stock Exchange (TMX Group).

Jean-François has 19 years of experience in exchanges, clearing houses and market surveillance environments.

He studied in genetics and astronomy, before finding his professional path in computer science in the financial field. As a developer, then analyst, and architect, he has been involved in the design, development and marketing of trading and clearing software used in Montreal, Europe and the United States.

When he began his journey at the EMBA McGill-HEC Montréal in 2012, Jean-François was director of a software architecture team at TMX Group. A few months after the end of the program, he was promoted to TMX Group’s executive team, as vice-president, operations. Since then, he has held a series of positions on the TMX Group management team.

Jean-François Bertrand is also President of the Executive MBA McGill-HEC Montréal Toastmasters Club.
