On Saturday, March 20th, during the G Division finals of Toastmasters International, which brings together 27 Montreal clubs, three speakers from the Executive MBA Toastmasters club stood out with distinction:

  • Michael Rodrigues (EMBA 2020): Third place in the English speech evaluation competition.
  • Jean-François Bertrand (EMBA 2014): Second place in the French speech evaluation competition.
  • Michel Filion (Director of recruitment and founder of the EMBA Toastmasters public speaking club): First place in the international English speech competition.

The EMBA Toastmasters club was founded in 2017 to allow EMBA graduates and participants to practice public speaking among themselves in an exclusive context, including speeches, improvisation exercises and speech evaluation.

Michael Rodrigues has been a member since 2020 while Jean-François Bertrand and Michel Filion have been members since the club was created in 2017.

The club meets on Thursdays, once every two weeks, for 90-minute sessions (now held via zoom, pandemic obliging).

The next step for Michel is the great District 61 competition (which brings together 206 clubs from Quebec and Ontario, and New York state) which will be held on April 17, via zoom, while the 8 first places amongst the divisions will compete for the right to represent District 61 internationally.

  • Toastmasters International has been in existence since 1924 and has 364,000 members in 145 countries. It is a non-profit organization.
