ecoresponsables-237x300The EMBA McGill-HEC Montréal Sustainability Challenge module took place from May 14 to May 17 2015 and was recently awarded the level 4 classification (standard BNQ 9700-253) for Responsible Event Planning by the Conseil québécois des événements écoresponsables (CQEER).

The Sustainability Challenge of the EMBA McGill-HEC Montréal was a tremendous eco-friendly success thanks to the exceptional commitment of the program management team, the choice of caterers, suppliers and venue, as well as the sorting of compostable and recyclable materials.

The event venues, the Maison du développement durable and the Bronfman Building at McGill University, are located near a metro station and easily accessible by public transport, 33% of participants traveled to class by metro and 10% by train. Thanks to the awareness-raising measures of the EMBA management team prior to the event, 53% of participants opted for walking or biking to come to class for at least part of their journey and 27% carpooled. Thus, only 0.4 tons CO2eq were issued by travels linked to the module. Greenhouse gases emitted by the travels of the organization, participants, and users were offset in quadruple with a two-tons C02 equivalent Gold Standard carbon credits from Planetair.
