Our 2021 McGill-HEC Montreal EMBA graduate, Dr. Nagib Dahdah has been appointed to chair the 14th International Kawasaki Disease Symposium (IKDS) in 2024.
He will be accompanied, as co-president, by Dr. Adriana Tremoulet.
The IKDS is a major international summit where researchers and health professionals from around the world come together, every 3 years, to exchange knowledge and make a difference in the lives of children affected by Kawasaki disease. This orphan disease, named after Dr. Tomisaku Kawasaki – who died in June 2020, is a rare condition that causes inflammation of the blood vessels. It generally affects children under ten years old.
«Comme médecin, on peut bien être au service des patients et à l’affut de la maladie entre le diagnostic et le traitement. Toutefois, il n’y a pas que les connaissances scientifiques et l’acte médical qui comptent afin d’y parvenir : la recherche est essentielle.
Depuis ma nomination pour présider le 14ème International Kawasaki Disease Symposium qui aura lieu à Montréal en août 2024 (une tâche monumentale), j’ai dû puiser de mon tact et contacts, mais surtout du parcours édifiant qui m’a mené à obtenir mon diplôme EMBA. Le motto que je me suis donné : « Deconstructing Ego », a porté fruit. Tous mes apprentissages sont mis en œuvre dans cette nouvelle mission que j’ai acceptée. »
